From Ghana to your skin

Unrefined shea butter has been used by women in Ghana for generations and was part of everyday life for skin, hair and body long before it became an ingredient in modern skincare. Our shea butter is made using traditional methods by women’s cooperatives in Ghana, where knowledge and craft are passed from woman to woman. It is an ingredient that has carried care, tradition and everyday usefulness through generations.

Shea butter is extracted from the shea nut kernel and is naturally rich in fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin E. In Ghana, it has long been used to soften skin after bathing, care for dry hands, protect pregnant bellies and provide extra care in everyday life. The same ingredient has also been a natural part of the home and used in cooking, making shea butter more than just a skincare product: it is a tradition.

What is shea butter good for?

Shea butter is especially useful when skin needs softness, protection and a little extra care. It is often used on dry skin and in haircare, and many people also use it to soften pregnancy bellies, care for skin after childbirth, give extra attention to sensitive areas and as part of everyday care for intimate discomfort. It has also traditionally been used before childbirth and during the postpartum period. For many skin types, unrefined shea butter is considered low-comedogenic, meaning it often works without clogging pores.

How do you use shea butter?

Unrefined shea butter is one of nature’s most versatile products. It can be used as a day and night cream for the face, as a body cream or as a caring product for the hair. Thanks to its natural fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin E, shea butter is an easy choice for anyone who wants to combine several steps in one product for skin and hair.

As a day or night cream

Take a small piece of shea butter, warm it between your palms and massage it into clean skin. Can be used morning and evening.

As a body cream

Apply to dry or slightly damp skin after showering to help skin retain softness and feel supple for longer.

As a leave-in for the hair

Warm a very small amount between your palms and apply through lengths or curls to add softness and definition and reduce frizz. Always start with a little; shea butter goes a long way. Many people use it as a simple body cream, overnight treatment on dry areas or as extra softening care for the hair.
