African Black Soap, also known as Alata Samina in Ghana, is a traditional black soap made from plant ash, including ash from cocoa beans and plantain peels. Our version builds on the same craftsmanship with plantain, cocoa, roasted palm leaves, coconut oil, and unrefined shea butter, just as village women in Ghana have made it for generations.
Black soap is a gentle yet powerful cleanser that lifts away dirt and excess sebum without leaving the skin feeling stripped. Many people appreciate it for cleansing the skin deeply while still providing a soap that feels more balanced for the face, body, and scalp. It often feels slightly rough at first, but quickly softens in your hands and creates a smooth lather.
Just like shea butter, it is both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. That is why it is so often mentioned when people talk about a more even skin tone, calmer skin, and fewer breakouts.
How to use it
Break off a small piece, wet your hands, and rub it into a soft lather. Massage into the face, body, or scalp and rinse thoroughly. Store it dry between uses, preferably on a draining soap dish, so it lasts longer.
A little tip
Black soap is strong. If you start too intensively, your skin may react with an initial cleansing period. Start a few times a week, see how your skin responds, and build up from there.

01 What is black soap good for?
African black soap has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It is gentle but deeply cleansing, making it a favorite for:

02 Does it work on sensitive or dry skin?
Yes, but start gently. Black soap is effective and can feel strong if your skin is not used to it. Use it a few times a week at first, listen to your skin, and build up from there.
Tip: Always follow with our shea butter after cleansing. Black soap cleanses; shea butter restores.
03 How do you use black soap?

On the face
Gently massage for 30 seconds, avoid the eyes, and rinse with lukewarm water.
On the scalp
Massage the lather into the scalp, leave it for one minute, rinse, and follow with conditioner.
04 How often can you use it?
Start with 2 to 3 times a week. Once your skin is used to it, you can use it daily, morning or evening.

Hade hört mycket gott om black soap och gjorde en beställning, var faktiskt lite skeptisk då jag tänkte 'en sån tvål kan väl inte göra så mycket mirakel?'. Jag hade fel, min hud är så mycket bättre!

Underbar produkt! Inte nog med att du känner dig krispigt ren, det spar en massa tid i duschen eftersom jag använder som både schampo och tvål. Skönt när du prokrastinerar på morgonen (=inte går upp i tid) men ändå hinner duscha med god marginal. Inget balsam efter, borstar igenom håret innan dusch och sedan lite sheasmör i topparna efteråt. Mitt självfall har kommit fram mycket mer och håret får bra volym utan produkter. Rekommenderar varmt som såväl tvål som schampo!

Använder till kroppen när jag duschar. Älskar det verkligen! Brukar dela upp tvålen i flera små så använder jag en liten i taget. Doftar underbart och man känner sig ren.

Jag älskar denna tvål, vill inte vara utan varken den eller ert ljuvliga sheasmör! Jag har handeksem, och tvålen är det enda som riktigt fungerat för att häva ett utbrott, utan kortison… Innerligt tacksam över det!
